～ストーリー（ラストまで書いています）～
ある合戦の帰り、敵将を辛くも討ち取った三船敏郎は、森の中で怪しげな老婆に、「あなたは、昇進し、やがて一国の主になるだろう。」と予言されます。一緒にいた三船敏郎の親友の武将が俺にも何かないのかとたずねると老婆は「あなたの子孫は王を継承するだろう」と予言します。
2人は、その予言を全く取り合わなかったのですが、城に帰ると手柄により三船敏郎は、昇進します。この当たりから、2人は予言を少し気にしだします。
ある晩、三船敏郎の館に城主が泊まりに来ます。妻の山田五十鈴にそそのかされ、城主を刺し殺します。この頃から、三船敏郎は、老婆の予言の虜になってしまいます。
そして、親友の武将までも殺めます。予言のことが気がかりな三船敏郎は、その子供たちも殺めようとしますが辛くも逃げられてしまいます。
その後、その親友の子孫らが攻めに来るという噂を耳にした三船敏郎は、不安な面持ちで、先の森に老婆を捜し求め、予言を求めると老婆は「森が動かない限り、あなたは安泰だ」と言われ、一安心で城に帰ります。
この頃から、妻の山田五十鈴は、「手にこびりついた血が取れない」といって気が触れてしまいます。
城に帰ると家来たちが「森が動いている」と騒ぎ立てます。実は、親友の子孫の軍勢が木を隠れ蓑にし、攻めに来たのでした。すっかり動揺する三船敏郎ですが、家来たちも動揺し、全く勝ち目はありませんでした。
最後は、三船敏郎は、子孫らの軍勢の弓矢によって絶命します。この時の描写と三船敏郎の演技が圧巻です。
また、山田五十鈴の演技も摩訶不思議さをかもし出していて素晴らしいです。

黒澤明は、オリジナル作品も素晴らしいですが、シェークスピアといいドフトエフスキーの「白痴」もよくできた作品となっております。
