僕にとっては、それだけインパクトがあり、佐野元春自身が自分の原点としてニール・ヤングに会いに行くように、今でも僕の原点してあり続けることでしょう。
それは、ある世代の人がビートルズであるように、僕よりも少し若い世代にとっての尾崎豊であるように。

そんな佐野元春にジョン・レノンの「イマジン」のような歌詞の曲がある。「クリスマス・タイム・イン・ブルー~聖なる夜に口笛吹いて」だ！
おそらく「イマジン」にインスパイアされて作った曲なのでしょう。

現在、このアルバムが行方不明中で、詳しい歌詞カードがないのだが（俺は、よく物をなくす＾＾；）、でも今一番聴きたい曲だ！、確か歌詞の中に“戦ってる人も、平和の人も、働いている人も、そうでない人も、みんな、みんなメリークリスマス”というサビのフレーズがあります。
僕は、このフレーズをとても気に入っています。まあ、「イマジン」ほどのインパクトはないが。僕は、「イマジン」なんて世界は信じない。
ジョン・レノンの歌詞で僕の心にグサッときた歌詞は、幾つか存在するのだが、それはまたの機会に。
話を元に戻すと、佐野元春のこの歌詞には、全ての人の生き方を肯定している。そんな歌詞がとても好きだ！
佐野元春は、ランボーに大変、影響されて歌詞を書く時、彼の影響があるそうだが、僕は読んでいないので解りません。
しかしながら、解らないなりに類推すると、その影響が歌詞に最も影響が現れていると思われるのが、「ナポレオンフィッシュと泳ぐ日」だ。

その昔、中村あゆみというアフォな歌手が、佐野元春の“この町のチルドレン”というフレーズをパクって「翼の折れたエンジェル」を大ヒットさせ、まるで、このフレーズを自分のものように語っていたのは全く腹が立った。
僕は、沢山ある昔のダビングしたテープとＣＤを僕自身が解る方法で整理しているのだが、佐野元春は、“ナイアガラ兄弟”として分類しています＾＾
その昔、大瀧詠一が当時の自分が注目する新人２人と一緒に「ナイアガラ トライアングル」というアルバムを２枚、発表した。

上にあるのが僕が持っているのと同じ「Vol.2」だが、このアルバムは、大瀧詠一、佐野元春、杉真理の３人が、それぞれ曲を持ち寄って１つのアルバムを作っています。
「Ａ面で恋をして」という曲を聴いたことがある人がいるかもしれませんが、このアルバムの１曲目で３人が歌っています。
ついでに、杉真理というミュージシャンについて簡単に述べると、ポップスを志向し、ビートルズの中でも、ジョン･レノンに影響されたミュージシャンは多いのだが、彼は、ポール･マッカトニーが好きだそうだ。
「バカンスはいつもレイン」という曲を聴いたことがある人はいるだろうか？これは、彼の曲だ。一時期、評価し、幾つかのアルバムを購入してた頃もあったのだが、松尾清憲という当時の新人と一緒にバンドを結成したという事を聞いた後は、噂すらも聞かない。
今、このアルバムを聴きなおしているのだが、大御所の大瀧詠一が素晴らしいのは当然とし、佐野元春はリラックスしながらも、その才能を感じさせるのだが、杉真理は全く面白くない曲を歌っている。
「Vol.1」は、大瀧詠一、山下達郎、もう一人は忘れてしまいました＾＾；

ＦＭで、大瀧詠一、山下達郎、佐野元春の３人が一緒になった特集番組がありましたが、先輩である山下達郎と佐野元春では、音楽へのスタンス、アプローチの仕方、考え方が随分、異なるようで（僕から見ても山下達郎は、アメリカンポップスを志向し、佐野元春はロックンロールを志向しているのが分かりますが）、ＦＭを聴いている限り、山下達郎が佐野元春に随分、いらっだている様子で「ガラスのジェネレーションみたいな十代のことを歌った曲とか、今でも歌うのに抵抗ない？」みたいな質問を佐野元春に投げかけ、佐野元春は「ライブで歌いたくない気分の時は歌わない。」と答えていたのを記憶しています。おそらく、大瀧詠一は、そんな二人のやり取りを苦笑しながら聞いていたに違いありません。
本来なら、山下達郎の「クリスマス･イブ」も紹介したいところなのだが、あまりにも有名になり過ぎ、手あかが随分、ついてしまったので他の方にお任せしましょう。
