「JSA」「オールドボーイ」などで知られる韓国映画界の鬼才パク・チャヌク監督が、今年7月に本国で大ヒットしたイ・ヨンエ主演の最新作「親切なクムジャさん」のPRのため来日。10月7日、東京・渋谷のセルリアンタワー東急ホテルにて記者会見を行なった。

本作は「復讐者に憐れみを」「オールド・ボーイ」に次ぐ復讐3部作の最終章。3部作について「まず『復讐者に憐れみを』は政治的な内容を含んでおり、韓国社会、資本主義社会が抱えている階級をめぐる葛藤を描きました。『オールド・ボーイ』は非常に神話的な内容で、人間の根本的な欲望を描いています。そして、『親切なクムジャさん』においては女性が主人公なので、前2作とは全く違い、暴力的要素も優雅な描写になっており、彼女が復讐する目的も含めて、贖罪がテーマとなっています」と解説。
そして「なぜ復讐にこだわるのか、過去に何かあったのか？」と聞かれると監督は「私は優しい性格で、その場でなにか自分を侮辱されるようなことを言われても我慢してしまうのです。だからベッドに入って寝る前に、『あいつにはこういう風に仕返してやろう』なんて思い浮かべるんです。そして、そこで思い浮かべたことが、映画にも反映されています。そういう意味で私の映画は、誰かに復讐するときに役立つかもしれませんね」とコメントし、笑いを誘った。
また「親切なクムジャさん」の11月12日公開を前に「『親切なクムジャさん』公開前夜祭」として、パク・チャヌク“復讐3部作”一挙上映が開催されるとのこと。詳しくはオフィシャルサイトにて。
