この映画は、「冬のソナタ」などで韓流ブームがきている時代の２００２年に製作されております。
監督は赤井秀和の初主演映画「どついたるねん」でデビューした後、幾つかのボクシング映画や将棋の話、「顔」など一風変わったテーマを撮り続けた阪本順二監督です。今月末、公開される「亡国のイージス」の前評判もいいです。
脚本は、全共闘世代で「映画芸術」の編集長でもある荒井晴彦です。評論の文章は、小難しいですが、脚本を書かせるとヒネリを利かせて面白い脚本を書く脚本家でもあります。代表作に「Wの悲劇」があります。この作品は、「シュリ」「JSA」などの韓国のポリティカルサスペンスに触発されて書いたそうです。
物語は、８０年代日本で起きた金大中（全韓国大統領で、この映画当時は野党の有力者であった）事件を題材に、事件の裏に自衛官が暗躍していたのではないかという解釈のもと、話が進みます。
冒頭で、原田芳雄扮する新聞記者がタクシーで三島由紀夫が決起した事件の舞台に向かうところから始ります。そのタクシーで流れる三島由紀夫が決起を呼びかけている様子を、おそらくその当時のラジオニュースが、観客を自然にその当時の時代に引き寄せます。
佐藤浩一扮する自衛官が三島由紀夫が割腹自殺した部屋の裏の廊下に、そっと花を手向けます。ちょうど現場に着いた原田芳雄が、それを目撃します。
後で、原田芳雄扮するジャーナリストが佐藤浩一にその真意を確かめますが、その時、原田芳雄が言う「天皇に裏切られ、共産党に裏切られ・・・」というセリフは、新左翼であった脚本家荒井晴彦の面目躍如でありましょう。ただし、脚本にあった政治的な部分を阪本順二監督にかなり薄められ娯楽色を強くされたことに対して、荒井晴彦氏は、「映画芸術」等でかなり怒りをぶちまけているようでしたが。
物語は、命を受け佐藤浩一が自衛官を辞職し、当時の韓国の与党の配下の人達KCIAと連携を組み、金大中氏の関係者を監視したり、日本での金大中の動きを捕らえようとします。そして、佐藤浩一らグループが金大中を亡き者にしようとします。
この金大中を誘拐しようとする一日が、刻一刻と描かれ、非常に緊迫感を与えます。
ラストは、この事件を知っている人通りです。
金大中氏を警護する政府関係者として、筒井道隆が久方振りに画面に登場しますが、いつもの少しなよなよとした所は一切見られず、緊迫した様子を好演しています。
この映画全体に非常に緊迫したムードが作られ、現代の日本でも政治的映画を撮れる事を証明して見せたのではないでしょうか？韓国側の関係者として出演した俳優たちも現実の現代韓国の政治的事情によって出演をためらわせるものがあったそうです。そのことも、この映画の緊迫感に一役買っていると思われます。この緊迫感は本場韓国の政治三部作完結編の「二重スパイ」にも相通ずるものがあります。
本物の金大中氏もこの映画を観て、「多分、こういうふうだったのだろう」と言う感想を述べておられます。
僕は、金大中事件をほとんど知らないのですが、知らない方が楽しめたと思います。映画館で観ましたが年齢層は若干高かったですが、結構沢山の人が観に来ていました。
